Adding internal and external linksÂ
How to add internal and external links to a section or content type?
There are two steps you must take to add and display internal or external links. The first involves the related content widget (internal links) and the related external links widgets. The second is the addition of the links in the content edit screen of your section or content type.
Step 1. Adding the related content and related external links widgets to a section.
As a section manager, content layout manager or webmaster…
- Go to section
- Select In Place Editor
- Select customise page
- In the region, select the plus icon to add widget
- In the add widget window, search for ‘related content’
- Select the related content widget in the taxonomy term category
- Override the title if you need to and set heading weight
- Leave label as pane title
- In select a formatter, select ‘Related content (published items)’
- Select continueÂ
- Select cinish
Repeat this process to add the widget for Related external links.
Step 2a. Adding external links to edit the screen of a content type.
As a section manager, publisher, editor or author…
- Go to options, edit in a content type
- Scroll down to the links tab in the horizontal menu at the bottom of the screen
- In related external links, add title of the link and then URL
- Select add another item if you want to add another link
- Select save at the top of the screen

- Go to options, edit in a content type
- Scroll down to the links tab in the horizontal menu at the bottom of the screenÂ
- In related content, select the content type you want to link
- In content field, type the title of your content to search for, find and select it
*Note, you must start with the first word of the title and it must be accurate.Â
- Change the title if you wantÂ
- Select add another item if you want to add another link
- Select save at the top of the screen
