Commenting Guidance

Learn more about the different options and capabilities around ‘Comments’ 

 Add, Edit & Delete a Comment

 

Steps
  1. Locate a piece of content that you would like to either ‘Add‘, ‘Edit‘ or ‘Delete‘ a comment.
    1. For example:
        1. A message on ‘Message wall
        2. A ‘Blog
        3. A ‘News‘ article
  2. Select the ‘Content
  3. To ‘Add
    1. Select the box located underneath the content labelled ‘Add a comment here
    2. A ‘WYSIWYG‘ may appear to allow you to style your ‘Comment
    3. Input your ‘Comment
    4. Select ‘Post

      Select post

    5. your ‘Comment‘ will now appear below the ‘Content
  4. To ‘Edit
    1. Locate a piece of ‘Content‘ that you have added a ‘Comment‘ to
    2. Locate your ‘Comment
    3. Select the ‘Three dots‘ to the right of the ‘Comment
    4. Select ‘Edit

      Edit post

    5. You will now be able to alter your ‘Comment
    6. Select ‘Post’
  5. To ‘Delete
    1. Locate a piece of ‘Content‘ that you have added a comment to
    2. Locate your ‘Comment
    3. Select the ‘Three dots‘ to the right of the ‘Comment
    4. Select ‘Delete

Note: Only users with select permissions will be able to ‘Delete’ other users’ comments

 Reply to an Existing Comment

 

Steps
  1. Locate a ‘Comment‘ that you would like to reply to
  2. Select the ‘Reply icon‘ located at the bottom left of the ‘Comment
  3. Select the ‘Reply icon

  4. Select the box labelled ‘Add a comment here
  5. A ‘WYSIWYG‘ may appear to allow you to style your comment
  6. Input your ‘Comment
  7. Select ‘Post
  8. your ‘Comment‘ will now appear below the ‘Content‘ as a reply

 Save a Comment

 

Steps
  1. Locate a ‘Comment‘ that you would like to save
  2. Select the ‘Three dots‘ to the right of the ‘Comment
  3. From the ‘Overflow‘ menu select ‘Bookmark

Steps
  1. Locate another users ‘Comment‘ that you would like to interact with
  2. Select the ‘Three dots‘ to the right of the ‘Comment
  3. From the ‘Overflow‘ menu select from any of:
    1. Report
    2. Bookmark
    3. Copy link
    4. Evaluate‘ – (Idea admin)
    5. Approve‘ an unpublished comment – (Moderator)

  1. Locate one of your ‘Comments‘ that you would like to interact with
  2. Select the ‘Three dots‘ to the right of the ‘Comment
  3. From the ‘Overflow‘ menu select from any of:
    1. Edit
    2. Delete

 Like a Comment

 

Steps
  1. Locate a ‘Comment‘ that you would like to ‘Like
  2. Select the ‘Thumbs up‘ icon to ‘Like‘ the comment located next to the ‘Reply‘ arrow
  3. The ‘Icon‘ will turn grey

    Like a post

  4. In the bottom right of the ‘Comment’ select the ‘Thumbs up‘ icon to view who has liked the ‘Comment‘ and how many

 View number of existing comments

 

Steps
  1. Locate a piece of ‘Content‘ that has comments attached to it
  2. Navigate to the bottom of the ‘Content
  3. Below the ‘Content’ you will see a heading labelled ‘Comments‘ with a number within the brackets
  4. The number within the brackets indicates the amount of ‘Comments‘ linked with the ‘Content
    1. E.G:  Comments (5)
    2. This would indicate there are 5 comments relating to this ‘Content

 

  1. View number of ‘Replies‘ to a comment
      1. Locate a ‘Comment‘ below a piece of ‘Content
      2. Below the ‘Comment’ select ‘View replies (1)
      3. Note: the number within the brackets indicates the number of replies. In this instance it would be 1 reply to the original comment
      4. A dropdown of replies will appear that have replied to the ‘Comment
      5. Select ‘Hide replies

 View Attachments

 

Steps
  1. Locate a ‘Comment‘ that has an ‘Attachment’
  2. Select the ‘Attachment‘ within the ‘Comment
  3. You will be ‘Redirected‘ to the ‘Content‘ that has been attached

 Report Comments

 

Steps
  1. Locate a ‘Comment‘ that you would like to ‘Report‘ that has been ‘Commented‘ by another user
  2. To the right of the ‘Comment‘ select the ‘Three dots
  3. Select ‘Report‘ from the dropdown
  4. Input your reasoning for ‘Flagging‘ the ‘Comment
  5. Select ‘Report
