What's New

The new intranet update includes significant improvements and changes. 

Improvements applied to existing features and functionality include:

    • Left Hand Side (LHS) - the LHS of the users screen has now been prioritised for just content creation.
    • Right Hand Side (RHS) - the RHS Draw is now the ‘administrative’ section of the content types. 
    • Configuration Panel - Is now located at the bottom of the content type and contains ‘Engage’, ‘Links’, ‘Promote’, ‘Search’, ‘Tags’ and ‘Target’
    • WYSIWYG Options - Post update when you access the WYSIWYG you will see the options specific to your role
    • Workflow and Revisions - Menu items now have workflow and revisions

    This guide aims to clarify the functionalities and administrative controls related to menu items and their organization within your site’s navigation framework.

    It highlights the flexibility of the system in accommodating diverse content structuring needs without the strict requirement for landing pages, ensuring ease of navigation and efficient site management.

    • Menu items will display in a menu when published
    • Menu items will display in a menu when in draft and Preview mode is enabled
    • Menu items will display in a menu regardless of if they have a landing page or not

     

    • Content can be saved under a menu items regardless of if the menu item has a landing page or not
    • A menu item can be saved under another menu items regardless of if the menu item (parent) has a landing page or not
    • A widget (for example, Navigation) can be used on a given landing page to provide links to content saved under a menu item regardless of if the menu item has a landing page or not

     

    • Content that is saved under a menu item without a landing page will still include the menu item in its breadcrumb. The menu item will not be a link
    • Content that is saved under a menu item a landing page will still include the menu item in its breadcrumb. The menu item will be a link

     

    • Menu item managers have restricted admin access
    • They will have access to Menu structure screens to configure or update Menu items

     

    User stories

    Building out site IA can use a combination of the above

    Menu items can be used to create:

    • Deep hierarchical menus
    • Organise relationships between site landing pages and content
    • Organise relationships between site landing pages and other site landing pages
    • Organise relationships between menus and other site landing pages
    • Organise relationships between menus and content

    Complex menus can be created without mandatory landing pages needing to be created and maintained for each menu item

     

    Analytics

    Analytics for current site sections that are migrated to the new menu items with landing pages should not be impacted.
