Adding a widget to a content type

In this video, we’re going to learn how to add a widget to your page. Simply go to the top right-hand corner.

We will see the edit option. If you select the edit, move down to widgets, this will take you to edit mode.

In edit mode, you have a number of tabs. This one being widgets. This is where you can add widgets, delete widgets, or change the settings for widgets.

With the purposes of this video, we’re going to look at adding a widget. Simply select the add widget button when you do so you will see drawers to the right hand side of the screen.

You can search in the Widget Library specific for types of widgets. I’m looking for widget that would be related to dates.

So I’m going to go ahead and search here. This has given me a short list of options. So I’m going to select the first option and I want to show author and published date.

I’m going to go ahead and select that option. She’s going to have a look for it. I’m happy with all these particular options and if I am, so I just go ahead and select add.

Now you’ll see the widget added to your page layout. And if you want to get an idea of how that look, you can just select show preview.

So here is our new widget, but I’d like to move it down below the title of the page. So I’m just going to go ahead, select the move button and drag it until I see it highlighted showing me where my widget is about to be moved.

I’m going to go ahead and select the show preview button again, and now my widget. Isn’t the place I want it.
