Saving your changes in a content type
Initially, what are we going to learn about is saving changes to your content. So we’re going to start off with the right-hand corner.
You’ll see an edit button, select the edit button, and you can choose any of these options for the purposes of this video.
I’m going to choose ‘Layout’. So you can see our page content on the left-hand side and our sidebar with our layout options.
On the right-hand side, I’m going to go ahead and change this to a different layout. Now I’ve applied the new layout. At this point, I select cancel.
This may be because I actually want to cancel the changes I’ve made, or it could have been purely by accident. At this point I will see an alert.
This helps the user in the instance that they may have made a mistake. So you can go ahead and choose either to save changes or to cancel in this case.
I want to cancel the changes because I want to keep the layout I had. So Cancel.
Go back to the right-hand corner and select the edit button. Let’s move to the content screen. And over here, you can see that we’re looking at the content title and body copy.
If I make any changes, for example, updating the title, I can go ahead and save. At this point, I’ve been given two options.
One is to save and close, which would take me back to the page view or to save and continue editing.
When I select save and continue editing, this simply gives me the option to move from the content screen to other tabs and make further changes before saving and going back to page view.
So in this case, I’m going to move to the widgets tab and I could see I’m quite happy with my layout.
I’m happy with widgets. I’m happy with the content and therefore I’m going to click or select the save button. And I want to go back to page view.
So I’m going to click save and close. And now I’m back at my page view.
