Getting started with creating sections 

Creating a section from the workbar

Relevant roles: Webmasters, Global Section Managers

You can create sections anywhere.

1. Select the create icon in the workbar

2. Choose ‘Section’

3. Add content to fields such as title, description, image, attachment…

5. Relate the section to another section if it’s a subsection

*Sections that are unrelated will feature in the main menu

6. If the section is ready to publish check the box next to ‘Publish’

7. Save

If you do not check the box next to publish, the section will remain in draft and you can access it by going to your profile menu dropdown and selecting ‘Enable preview mode’.

 

Creating a section in Administration

Relevant roles: Webmasters, Global Section Managers

Using ‘Manage sections’ lets you create multiple sections and build out your navigation quickly. It’s a great place to go when you’re first building out your site.

1. Go to ‘Administration’

2. Locate ‘Structure’ and ‘Information architecture’, select ‘Manage sections’

3. Select ‘Create section’

4. Add content to fields such as title, description, image, attachment…

5. Relate the section to another section if it’s a subsection

*Sections that are unrelated will feature in the main menu.

6. If the section is ready to publish check the box next to ‘Publish’

*If you do not publish your section, you must ‘Enable preview mode’ from your profile menu to view it.

7. Save

*If you already have lots of sections, you can check the subsections by selecting the link in the ‘Section Name’ column. To go to each section, select ‘View’ in the ‘Operations’ column.

 

Creating a subsection from the Overflow Menu

Relevant roles: Local Section Managers

You can only create subsections in the sections you are a member of.

1. Go to your section

2. Select the overflow menu (the three vertical dots)

3. Select ‘Create subsection’

4. Add content to fields such as title, description, image, attachment…

*The ‘Relate section’ field will already be set

5. If the section is ready to publish check the box next to ‘Publish’

6. Save

*If you do not check the box next to publish, the section will remain in draft and you can access it by going to your profile menu dropdown and selecting ‘Enable preview mode’.
