Getting started with widgets

Widget Library

Now when you select ‘Add widget’ in a region, the widget library will open in a retractable drawer from the right of your screen.

You’ll first see categories in your widget library. We have removed ‘homepage’, ‘taxonomy_term’ and ‘general, replacing them with more clear and obvious categories, such as ‘section content’ and ‘content types’.

We have also included an information hover, so you can quickly find out more about a category or widget before you select anything.

If you know what you’re looking for, or have a good idea, use search for as you type results in the ‘all widgets’ category.

Configuring widgets

Select the widget you want to add and you can start configuring it using the tabs. The first thing you’ll notice is that the drawer expands to give you more room to work.

Second, the tabs neatly split what’s possible in each widget. The tabs that are available will change depending on which widget you select. Change the title, choose what content you want to display, choose a design, filter, target, and sort.

When you’re done, select ‘Add’ in the bottom right of the drawer. A loading screen will let you know that your widget is being added. If there is an error, you will be told what is wrong so that you can fix it and select ‘Add’ again.
